Parent cooperation

Fostering strong parent collaboration is important to us. We have a PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) where at least one parent from each group participates, and together, we focus on how we can improve the preschool. We inform new guardians during our initial contact about how much we value communication and that their opinions are significant to us. We strive to involve parents in everything.

Examples of our parent collaboration include:

Open house events for interested families held twice a year, currently running continuously upon registration during the pandemic.

The TYRA app - our app through which the preschool publishes blogs, calendars, attendance records, educational documentation, and portfolios. Through TYRA, educators and guardians also communicate about schedules, illness, or everyday matters.

Daily communication during drop-off and pick-up. We believe daily communication is crucial. It can be small details that can determine a child's day or evening. It's also important for the child to see that parents and educators have a good relationship.

Parent-teacher conferences/development meetings in November and April/May. Of course, we have meetings as needed, initiated by both educators and parents. It's important that we respect the children and guardians and don't discuss sensitive matters in the hallway but invite them to a meeting.

Welcome letters with comprehensive information for new families.

Follow-up meetings after the settling-in period where we discuss how it has been going and where the parent gives us feedback on how they feel it has been going.

Parent meetings in September. Parent council meetings in September/October.

Opportunities to create various interest groups regarding, for example, the development of the courtyard, collaboration around larger activities, or cultural holidays.

Parent letters from the principal at least once per term.

User surveys. We inform our parents already at the parent meeting in September about how important it is that they help us improve by responding to the user survey. This is done in conjunction with reviewing our goals and the year's user survey results.

Drop-in coffee breaks.

Graduation party with performances, "graduation" (diplomas and hats), and a picnic.
